I have always been very involved in community service. Throughout my high school career I volunteered at numerous places, some dealt with special needs children; others were shelters for abused families, as well as humane societies and many more. I think being exposed to this kind of work at an early age really had an effect on me. I really enjoy doing service work because I feel like I’m actually doing something for someone. For this reason I hope to find a lot of service opportunities here on campus that I can get involved in. Also in a year or two I would like to go on a service trip somewhere outside the United States so I could experience a new culture as well as helping those who need it.
As well as doing service work, when I was in high school I was involved in many sports. Tennis was the one that I devoted basically all of my time to however. I played all four years and I gained the title of captain my senior year. I’ve always enjoyed the sport and seemed to have somewhat of a talent for it so my goal here at Mizzou is to try and play club. Or if nothing else, find some people with as much interest as me and just go play for fun.
