Andi Kaufman: Studying Abroad

Studying abroad is something I have always been interested in.  With my major being Broadcast Journalism, it is strongly encouraged to be familiar with a foreign language.  In high school I took Spanish, so naturally that was my language of choice in college.  Not only am I choosing to continue my knowledge of the Spanish language, but i have also decided to minor in it.  Understanding that the best way to learn a language is to travel to a country where that is their native form of speech, I have decided to look into studying abroad in Spain.  My first trip to Spain was with my choir my junior year of high school.  While there I realized how little of Spanish I knew and how difficult it is to understand.  After completing a year or two of Spanish here at the University of Missouri, I hope I will have prepared myself well enough to travel to Spain and live there for several months.  By doing this I will learn the language faster, as well as more efficiently.  In regards to questions I have about the study abroad program, I'm curious to know the overall options there are for students.  I would like to know how long a person can travel for, will I be attending school while in a foreign country, and also where will I be living while in Spain.  As of right now, I am not extremely aware of all the opportunities there are for a student looking to study abroad, all I know is that they're out there.  I'm excited to see where my adventures overseas will take me. Being in a non-English speaking country will be much different, however, I cannot wait this experience of a lifetime.
